I am Francesco Rizzo-Duffy (he/him), the owner of Anchored Mind Psychotherapy and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC). I earned my Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Seton Hall University and have over a decade of experience supporting individuals, couples, and families from diverse backgrounds. As a first-generation Italian-American, who speaks the language as well, I value the role of culture, language, and identity in shaping our emotional lives and relationships. My work focuses on helping clients navigate anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, substance recovery, LGBTQIA+ concerns, and serious mental health conditions across a range of care settings, including outpatient, inpatient, and community-based programs. Outside of my professional work, I value staying connected and grounded through personal, reflective practices that are meaningful to me, such as working with tarot, crystals, home cleansing rituals, and following the phases of the moon. These practices help me maintain balance, mindfulness, and presence in my day-to-day life. I am also a big foodie who loves discovering new restaurants and getting creative in the kitchen, especially baking sourdough with my starter, Ophelia. I am a proud Swiftie who has even met Taylor Swift, enjoy traveling with my husband and our Goldendoodle, Moira, and look forward to seasonal adventures like visiting lavender farms in the spring and going apple and pumpkin picking in the fall. Above all, I value spending meaningful time with friends and family and making memories along the way. Giving back to my community is deeply important to me. I am passionate about advocating for kindness, inclusion, and mental health awareness, and I was honored to receive the Outstanding Community Activist award in 2022 at the Kean University Human Rights Conference for my ongoing efforts to support and uplift others.

Moira is our F1B Goldendoodle, born in September 2020. She is named after Moira just like our favorite character from one of our all-time favorite shows, Schitt’s Creek. She has been bringing joy, laughter, and a whole lot of love into our lives ever since.

Moira is a true treat lover who knows some pretty cool tricks and never says no to a car ride or a vacation. She is a total snuggler and a generous kisser, with a sweet, friendly, and calm temperament that makes her wonderful to be around both people and other animals. Because of her gentle and soothing nature, we have started the process of certifying her as a therapy dog so she can share her comfort and kindness with others who need it.

She loves long walks on the beach, playing fetch, swimming, and sampling safe fruits and vegetables, although peanut butter is definitely her favorite. You will find Moira joining sessions from time to time, keeping a watchful eye on both of us and making sure everyone stays on task in her role as the best supervisor around.

Life is challenging, and so is change.

I understand this from my work as a therapist, and I recognize it from my own personal experience as a client. I thus consider it an honor to be your first step toward change, personal growth, and healing.

I commend your courage and vision of a bigger life and for not settling for less.

My mission is to support you every step of the way, shattering the stigma and labels associated with mental health.
